Douglas Louden

Douglas’ career has created a compelling and multi-faceted resume.
His background is a combination of Hospitality, Development, Real Estate and Infrastructure. He has had extensive experience; both opening and operating, branded and independent hotels, city properties and resorts, golf courses, clubs and marina’s.
He has worked for and in partnership with some of the world’s leading hotel brands in a variety of locations, and has been very successful in some extremely competitive environments. This includes operating through some of the most tumultuous events in the history of the hospitality industry, the Asian Financial Crisis (1997/98), 9/11, SARs, Bali Bombs, Asian Tsunami to the current time.
Having risen through the ranks to General Manager at a relatively young age, he has continually sought new challenges and looked to rise to the highest levels in the industry, taking up roles initially in corporate operations and then moving across to the other side of the negotiating table into ownership/asset management and development. In these roles he has overseen hotel operations from the west coast of North America, to Hawaii, Japan, the sub continent, the Maldives, South East Asia and Australia/Pacific: conducted feasibility studies on hotels/resorts for locations all around the world, and has interacted at some point or other with most of the major hotel brands such as Four Seasons, Marriott, Starwood, Hyatt, Hilton, Meridien, Shangri La, Mandarin Oriental, Club Med, Sol Melia and Intercontinental. He has also overseen operations and brand development for Hard Rock Hotels in Asia.
